Hello, I'm using Microsoft Excel 2008 for Mac version 12.2.0 (090605) (Mac OS 10.5). I created a sheet, selected some cells to be locked and others to be unlocked (using Format > Cells), then I used Tools > Protection > Protect Sheet (choosing Contents only, not Objects or Scenarios). ![]() Windows or mac for photo editing. If you're referring to deselecting a selected range of cells, there is no explicit command or special magic potion:-) The most commonly used techniques are; • Simply click on any cell, either in the range or elsewhere, or • Press any Arrow key if you don't want to use the mouse Most navigation techniques other than pressing the return/ enter or Tab keys will deselect a range as well. If that doesn't answer your question, please explain why it fails & take the time to provide a more complete description of what it is that you need to do. Specifically what method are you referring to 'on pc' that you cannot do in Excel for Mac? ![]() Please mark HELPFUL or ANSWERED as appropriate to keep list as clean as possible ☺ Regards, Bob J. I've recently started using Office 2013. But now I cannot work with Excel. Most important feature is gone. I'm often selecting cell/rows for further analysis and copying, but when I have to select tens of them it can happen that I will select something wrong. (I'm selecting using CTRL and mouse Click). But when I want to unselect my mistake I cannot. There is no such feature in Excel 2013? How come feature that is available everywhere is not in Excel 2013. Maybe I'm wrong and missing something, but I cannot unslect single cell/row without loosing whole selection. I've recently started using Office 2013. But now I cannot work with Excel. This has been the case with all versions of Excel. Chip Pearson has a couple of macros that you can use to unselect a cell or groups of cells. It's perfectly normal for a cut/copied range of cells to remain selected after pasting. Are you saying that if you then do as I suggested that neither method deselects the range? If that's the case, please go to Excel> About Excel & reply with the Version & License info shown there. In the meanwhile, see if restarting your Mac resolves the issue. Otherwise, I'm really not sure what you're asking because the articles you cite pertain to an entirely different issue: Deselecting only portions of a selected array of cells. There is no such built-in capability in any version of Excel for Windows or for Mac. That's why the 'solutions' refer to external methods. The first article refers to using add-ins, neither of which are provided for Mac computers. The Community reply from Gord Dibben provides macros for the same purpose, but they are explicitly written for Win Excel, as well.
